Johnny Boychuk signed with Austria’s EC Salzburg on Friday, becoming the 11th Bruins player to join a European team during the NHL lockout. Gerry Johannson, Boychuk’s agent, confirmed the signing. Boychuk is the only Bruin to sign with an Austrian club.
Boychuk, who lives in Edmonton during the offseason, was one of the first Bruins to return to Boston in August, participating in Milan Lucic’s charity softball game Aug. 22. When the lockout began, Boychuk remained in Boston, skating alongside teammates and local NHLers.
