Letís be honest. The 42 year-old, Teemu Selanne, isnít getting any younger and he couldíve easily hung up his skates in 2007 when he hoisted his first Stanley Cup with the Anaheim Ducks and had gone out on top. Now, as the lockout wipes out a third of the NHL season, Selanne is on the brink of calling it quits.

Iíll be the one that will state the obvious; itíll be unfortunate if a future hockey hall of famer had to go out like this.

Thereís so much more to the current standstill than just the dollar figures and contract stipulations. Veterans that are in the tail end of their career are left with the decision of whether or not they want to continue playing when hockey season starts up again.
