The Ontario Hockey League today announced that Barrie Colts’ defenceman Ryan O’Connor is the OHL Player of the Week after leading the league with seven points in two games for the week ending December 9 scoring four goals and three assists with a plus-minus rating of plus-1.
O’Connor led the first place Colts to a pair of victories this past week helping the club maintain top spot in the Eastern Conference with 43 points through 30 games. On Thursday night in a 5-2 victory over the Sudbury Wolves, O’Connor scored three goals and one assist as first star of the game. Trailing 2-0 after the first period, the Colts got one back before O’Connor helped set-up Anthony Camara for his 20th goal of the season then went on to score three straight goals including the game-winner for his first career hat-trick. On Saturday night against Kingston he opened the scoring just 19 seconds into the contest with his 14th goal of the season, then added two power play assists as third star of the 6-2 victory over the Frontenacs.
