Top Ten Prospects
1. Mark Scheifele - Barrie Colts (OHL) - 36GP - 30G - 34A - 64PTS - +22 - 17PIM
"What can you say about Schiefele? He was a man amongst boys!"That was the glowing review given by Barrie Colts Captain Ryan O`Connor after a recent game in which Schiefele scored 6 points. Scheifele has been dominant in Junior performances this year, but was unable to secure a spot with the big club in minimal time with the Jets this season. A playoff run, another offseason of bulking up and a full training camp should see Scheifele get the best chance possible to crack the Jets lineup in the 2013/2014 season. That means getting minutes on a top line, and seeing some special teams chances as well.
2. Jacob Trouba - Michigan Wolverines (NCAA) - 27GP - 8G - 12A - 20PTS - -8 - 70PIM
The hope around these parts is that Trouba is the defense partner of the future for Zach Bogosian here in Winnipeg. The season has not gone well for the Wolverines, but Trouba has been a bright spot, tied for second in team scoring as a freshman. He may be a year or two away from joining the Jets, but I feel he may be the most NHL ready of all the prospects.
