The Blue Jackets won't have a firm grip on Brandon Dubinsky's knee injury until they return Tuesday and Dubinsky is seen by the team's medical staff. This much is known: Dubinsky won't play on Monday when the Blue Jackets play the Anaheim Ducks in Honda Center.

"Well, it's a blow, for sure," Blue Jackets coach Todd Richards said. "You just hope it's good news Tuesday."

While the Blue Jackets enjoyed a day off in sunny SoCal, Richards was holed up in his hotel room, meeting with his assistant coaches and seeking answers to a Blue Jackets' season that is quickly slipping away on them. The Jackets have lost five straight on the road and and 4-9-2 overall, having settled into 30th place in the NHL's overall standings -- right where they finished last season.
