Close to 200 minutes of penalties and a successful penalty shot were the highlights of a wild third period between two American Hockey League Northeast Division rivals.
Three separate fights – including two that saw everyone on the ice except the goalies pair off – led to six game-misconduct penalties, while Andrew Joudrey thrilled the crowd with a penalty shot as the Springfield Falcons earned a 5-2 victory over the Bridgeport Sound Tigers before 3,488 Friday at the MassMutual Center.
"I'm proud of our guys. They stepped up for each other all the way through," Falcons coach Brad Larsen said. "I don't expect anything else from that group. They're a very caring group in there; they play hard for each other."
