    Ducks Sign Koivu to One-Year Contract Extension

    The Ducks have signed center Saku Koivu to a one-year contract extension through the 2013-14 NHL season. Per club policy, no financial terms of the deal were disclosed.

    Koivu, 38 (11/23/74), recently completed in his fourth season with Anaheim in 2012-13, compiling 8-19=27 points with a +4 rating and 18 penalty minutes (PIM) in 47 contests. The 5-10, 182-pound center ranked fourth on the club in points and tied for third in assists. In addition, he led Anaheim in faceoff wins (437) and faceoffs taken (851) with a 51.4% success rate throughout the season. Koivu scored his 800th career NHL point on Apr. 3, 2013 vs. Dallas. He also added 1-2=3 points in Anaheimís seven-game Western Conference Quarterfinal series vs. Detroit.
